Louro aritu is available in the forests of Precious Woods, located in the Amazon region of Brazil. This species could also include the local species Louro amarelo. The trees have a straight cylindrical shape, which makes it possible to produce larger dimensions in sawn wood.
Appearance
The heartwood has a color that varies from yellow brown to beige brown, with often a greenish shade. The sapwood is easy to distinguish. Typical is the pleasant smell. The planed surface has a nice lustre and texture. Louro aritu can have ingrown bark. The grain is mainly straight and the texture is medium coarse.
Processing properties
Despite the high-density machining goes well, with a smooth result. The planed surface is pretty smooth. Pre-drilling is recommended. There is no experience regarding finishing and gluing. Drying goes slowly with few defects. Thicker dimensions are difficult to kiln dry.
