Louro Amarelo

Source

Louro amarelo is available in the forests of Precious Woods, located in the Amazon region of Brazil. This species could also include the local species Louro aritu. The trees have a straight cylindrical shape, which makes it possible to produce larger dimensions in sawn wood.

Appearance

The heartwood has a color that varies from yellow brown to beige brown, with often a greenish shade. The sapwood is easy to distinguish. Typical is the pleasant smell. The planed surface has a nice lustre and texture. Louro amarelo can have ingrown bark. The grain is mainly straight and the texture is medium coarse.

Processing properties

Despite the high density machining goes well, with a smooth result. The planed surface is pretty smooth. Pre-drilling is recommended. There is no experience regarding finishing and gluing. Drying goes slowly with few defects. Thicker dimensions are difficult to kiln dry.

Application

Louro amarelo can be used for several applications:

Interior: e.g. flooring

Exterior: e.g. cladding, boardwalks and garden furniture
